Venue hire. Generally more accessible than the lakes, with a wide range between coastal properties, historic town venues and larger estates.
Guest travel. The largest hidden cost, and it lands on your guests rather than your budget. Sicily is a longer and often more expensive journey than mainland Italy, which affects both attendance and how long people stay.
Supplier travel. Anyone coming from northern Italy needs to arrive the day before. That is an extra night and an extra day in their quote — expected and reasonable, but it should be visible rather than buried.
Transfers. Sicilian roads are slower than they look. Coastal routes and hill-town access mean guest transport is usually organised rather than left to individuals.
Season. Peak is May to September, but October remains genuinely viable, which gives Sicily a value window the northern regions do not have.
